Historic bungalows, walk-up fourplexes, and tight tree-lined one-ways. Vickers moves Montrose on a flat, written price, handled by our own crew.
Moving in Montrose: What to Expect
Montrose is Houston's old arts quarter, 1920s bungalows, converted fourplexes, and low-rise apartments packed along narrow tree-lined streets off Westheimer and Montrose Boulevard. Most of it has no driveway and no dock, so a move here turns on the small stuff, the curb space, the walk-up stairs, and the turn through a skinny front door, and we plan every one of those before the truck rolls in.
What to square away before a Montrose move
- Walk-up fourplexes and bungalows have steep, narrow interior stairs
- Few driveways, so a curb spot or loading zone is usually needed
- Mature oaks and tight one-ways limit where a big truck can sit
Typical Montrose move cost
| Home size | Crew | Est. time | Starts at* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio / 1-bedroom | 2 movers + truck | 2–4 hrs | $270 |
| 2-bedroom home | 3 movers + truck | 4–6 hrs | $720 |
| 3-bedroom home | 4 movers + truck | 6–8 hrs | $1,380 |
| 4-bedroom / large | 4–5 movers | 8+ hrs | Custom quote |
Three ways to keep the day short
- Give us the cross streets so we can sort the truck spot
- Flag a second- or third-floor walk-up when you book
- Point out records, art, or glass so we pad them right
Three Steps to Moving Day
From that first hello to the final box carried inside and set down in the right room.
Tell Us About the Move
Walk us through the move over the phone, on a quick video call, or right through the form. You get back a flat price in writing, never a soft figure that balloons once the truck is loaded.
Lock In Your Date
Lock in your day and we assign the right crew and truck, then handle the loading-zone permit, the building certificate of insurance, or the freight-elevator booking your move calls for.
We Carry the Load
A single lead runs the entire job, wrap, load, drive, and placement, with our own Houston crew, and we route the run around the 610 Loop, I-10, and Beltway 8 to keep the day on schedule.
Moving Services in Montrose
From the first phone call to the final box, our own people carry the whole move, with nothing handed to a broker along the way.

Your Move, Fully Covered
Covered from the first blanket we lay down to the final box set on the second floor.
Fully Insured
Cargo and liability coverage come with every job, and we walk through your valuation choices with you before you sign anything.
High-Rise Ready
Freight-elevator bookings, building certificates of insurance, cramped Heights stairwells, and tight townhome corners, we scout the carry and the loading zone so a tower or walk-up move never stalls at the door.
Padded & Wrapped
Each item is blanketed, shrink-wrapped, and strapped down firmly. Should a piece take a knock, we flag it right away and make it right.
Done Right
A straight price, a crew that genuinely cares about the work, and nobody leaves until every last piece sits exactly where you want it.
We Know Montrose
We handle the curb space, the walk-up stairs, and the tight doorways before your date, so a Montrose move stays smooth even on the narrowest street. A single lead stays on your job from the first knock through the last box, and the flat price is in your hands before anything is loaded.

Alan and his crew did a great job on my office move! Originally I had scheduled with another moving company, but the building we were moving out of stopped their crew in the process because they hadn't protected the walls and floors sufficiently. This put us in a bind because we needed to be out by the end of the month, which was only 2 days away. So I looked on Yelp and called Vickers. Alan coordinated the insurance with the building management and they came that night and completed the move for us! Very professional. Showed up exactly when they said, worked quickly and efficiently, even stored our stuff on their truck overnight and delivered it first thing in the morning. I didn't have to worry about anything, which I am very grateful for. Five stars. I recommend them highly.
Another great move with Vickers Moving! This was my second move with this company and I could not be more pleased. The communication was excellent, the bid was exact, they arrived on time, the men were experienced and listened, doing things one time and done. The quality of the move was perfect with my belongings undamaged and the furniture reassembled well.
We used Vickers to move some of Mom's furniture and household items to a storage unit. They were on time, pleasant to be around, and very efficient. The owner even stopped in to make sure our move was heading in the right direction for both his team and us. This was service above and beyond expected. It was amazing how much they got into the storage unit while leaving access for us to get to records and items we might need. Their prices were a bit higher than some others quoted, but the extra cost was worth it as the day went so smoothly and Mom's things were treated with kid gloves. I highly recommend this company and will hire them again if needed.

Questions We Hear a Lot
Do you move within Montrose?
Yes, the inner-loop apartments and bungalows are a big part of our week. Local moves start at $125/hr on a flat, written price, and we take care of the curb spot, the walk-up carry, and any loading-zone permit for you. When the move leaves Texas, we price it on weight and mileage instead.
Are you licensed and insured?
We are. Vickers Moving Service carries Texas household-goods authority and full insurance, and your job stays with our own crew start to finish, with no broker slipping in to grab a cut. We are glad to walk you through the authority numbers and coverage details, and we will review your valuation options before anything is locked in.
Can you do high-rise moves that need a certificate of insurance?
Yes, constantly. High-rises near the Galleria, Midtown, the Museum District, and the Medical Center expect a certificate of insurance on file and a freight elevator reserved for a set window. We submit the COI to building management, hold the elevator, pad the cab and hallways, and finish inside the booked slot so you are off the dock on time.
My Heights bungalow has a tight 1920s staircase. Is that a problem?
This is exactly what we do best. Those vintage bungalows in the Heights, Woodland Heights, and Norhill are raised on piers, with steep front steps, narrow doorways, and cramped boxed-in stairwells. We size up every turn, pad the jambs and railings, and lift or hand-carry whatever refuses to make the corner, just as we have done since 1993.
Will you handle the packing?
As much or as little as you want. Want the whole house boxed? Done. Just the kitchen and the artwork? That is fine too. We arrive with heavy-duty cartons and paper, mark every box by room, and once the truck is empty we will unpack you at the new place.
Can you move pianos, gun safes, and pool tables?
Yes, and our crew handles them week after week. Upright or grand, a loaded gun safe, a slate pool table, a family heirloom, or a framed canvas, every one rides the right board or dolly under proper straps and pads, and we build a custom crate any time a piece needs one.
Can I move or cancel my date?
Of course. Reschedule or cancel with at least two days’ notice and your full deposit comes back to you. Every condition is written into your booking in plain words, so nothing is left to guesswork.
