Moving in Sugar Land: What to Expect
Sugar Land anchors the Fort Bend suburbs southwest of Houston, master-planned neighborhoods like First Colony and Telfair, gated family communities, and homes with room to spare. Most moves here are comfortable, with driveways and space to stage, so we put that to work and keep a Sugar Land move on time.
What to square away before a Sugar Land move
- Gated communities may require a pass or set move-in hours
- Larger family homes mean more volume and a bigger crew
- The run out to Fort Bend factors into the timing
Typical Sugar Land move cost
| Home size | Crew | Est. time | Starts at* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio / 1-bedroom | 2 movers + truck | 2–4 hrs | $270 |
| 2-bedroom home | 3 movers + truck | 4–6 hrs | $720 |
| 3-bedroom home | 4 movers + truck | 6–8 hrs | $1,380 |
| 4-bedroom / large | 4–5 movers | 8+ hrs | Custom quote |
Three ways to keep the day short
- Send the gate code or community move rules up front
- Book a crew sized to a larger home
- Use the garage and driveway to shorten the carry
Three Steps to Moving Day
From that first hello to the final box carried inside and set down in the right room.
Tell Us About the Move
Walk us through the move over the phone, on a quick video call, or right through the form. You get back a flat price in writing, never a soft figure that balloons once the truck is loaded.
Lock In Your Date
Lock in your day and we assign the right crew and truck, then handle the loading-zone permit, the building certificate of insurance, or the freight-elevator booking your move calls for.
We Carry the Load
A single lead runs the entire job, wrap, load, drive, and placement, with our own Houston crew, and we route the run around the 610 Loop, I-10, and Beltway 8 to keep the day on schedule.
Moving Services in Sugar Land
From the first phone call to the final box, our own people carry the whole move, with nothing handed to a broker along the way.
Long-Distance Moving
Moves out of Sugar Land across Texas and beyond, one crew throughout.

Cargo and liability coverage come with every job, and we walk through your valuation choices with you before you sign anything.
High-Rise Ready
Freight-elevator bookings, building certificates of insurance, cramped Heights stairwells, and tight townhome corners, we scout the carry and the loading zone so a tower or walk-up move never stalls at the door.

Each item is blanketed, shrink-wrapped, and strapped down firmly. Should a piece take a knock, we flag it right away and make it right.

We had such a perfect (yes perfect) moving experience with Alan and company. We did not have an easy job for them and they never showed frustration and were extremely professional throughout the entire process. The pricing was very comparable to other companies, and the previous reviews don't lie, this is the best of the best in Houston moving. Our move consisted of three stops and multiple swaps of very antique, delicate furniture, and they never missed a step and were full speed (in 90 degree weather) the entire ten hour move. They took care of our furniture better than we could have imagined. They showed up on time and followed all directions with a smile. They did not overcharge for anything or try to add extra charges along the way. Two flat screen TVs, glass coffee tables, antique china cabinets, mirrors from the early 1900s and much, much more, all moved with the hourly charge plus the materials they used. The end price was exactly what Alan quoted me. Honest, legit, hard working people. Do yourself a favor and hire Alan and his team, worth every penny!
The best movers I have ever used. I was moving from one apartment to another in the same building. I paid for three movers for three hours and four showed up. They were super fast, clean, and completely professional. They even found 22 cents in the couch which I was given. On a scale of 1 to 10, these guys are a 12.
Alan Vickers was extremely professional and did a great job with my move this weekend. I moved from an apartment to a townhome with minimal furniture but there were stairs involved so it was not easy, but the Vickers team did a great job! I had a 3 man crew and they were very efficient. I highly recommend this company for any of your moving needs.

Questions We Hear a Lot
Do you move within Sugar Land?
Yes, all across Sugar Land and the Fort Bend communities. Local moves run on our flat hourly with a written estimate, and we plan for gate passes and community move rules. When the move leaves Texas, we price it on weight and mileage instead.
Are you licensed and insured?
We are. Vickers Moving Service carries Texas household-goods authority and full insurance, and your job stays with our own crew start to finish, with no broker slipping in to grab a cut. We are glad to walk you through the authority numbers and coverage details, and we will review your valuation options before anything is locked in.
Can you do high-rise moves that need a certificate of insurance?
Yes, constantly. High-rises near the Galleria, Midtown, the Museum District, and the Medical Center expect a certificate of insurance on file and a freight elevator reserved for a set window. We submit the COI to building management, hold the elevator, pad the cab and hallways, and finish inside the booked slot so you are off the dock on time.
My Heights bungalow has a tight 1920s staircase. Is that a problem?
This is exactly what we do best. Those vintage bungalows in the Heights, Woodland Heights, and Norhill are raised on piers, with steep front steps, narrow doorways, and cramped boxed-in stairwells. We size up every turn, pad the jambs and railings, and lift or hand-carry whatever refuses to make the corner, just as we have done since 1993.
Will you handle the packing?
As much or as little as you want. Want the whole house boxed? Done. Just the kitchen and the artwork? That is fine too. We arrive with heavy-duty cartons and paper, mark every box by room, and once the truck is empty we will unpack you at the new place.
Can you move pianos, gun safes, and pool tables?
Yes, and our crew handles them week after week. Upright or grand, a loaded gun safe, a slate pool table, a family heirloom, or a framed canvas, every one rides the right board or dolly under proper straps and pads, and we build a custom crate any time a piece needs one.
Can I move or cancel my date?
Of course. Reschedule or cancel with at least two days’ notice and your full deposit comes back to you. Every condition is written into your booking in plain words, so nothing is left to guesswork.
