Grand estates, fine art, and heirloom pianos behind gated drives. Vickers moves River Oaks with white-glove care on a flat, written price.
Moving in River Oaks: What to Expect
River Oaks is Houston's grand old-money enclave, large estates on deep lots along River Oaks Boulevard and Kirby, many gated, many full of antiques, fine art, and grand pianos. A move here is about protection and discretion, so we bring extra padding, custom crating, and a lead who has handled high-value homes for years.
What to square away before a River Oaks move
- High-value antiques, art, and grand pianos need custom crating
- Long gated drives and circular motor courts lengthen the carry
- Chandeliers, mirrors, and stone tops call for careful teardown

- Point out the pieces that need crating when you book
- Share any gate codes or HOA move rules up front
- Flag a grand piano or heavy safe so we bring the right board
Three Steps to Moving Day
From that first hello to the final box carried inside and set down in the right room.
Tell Us About the Move
Walk us through the move over the phone, on a quick video call, or right through the form. You get back a flat price in writing, never a soft figure that balloons once the truck is loaded.
Lock In Your Date
Lock in your day and we assign the right crew and truck, then handle the loading-zone permit, the building certificate of insurance, or the freight-elevator booking your move calls for.
We Carry the Load
A single lead runs the entire job, wrap, load, drive, and placement, with our own Houston crew, and we route the run around the 610 Loop, I-10, and Beltway 8 to keep the day on schedule.
Moving Services in River Oaks

Covered from the first blanket we lay down to the final box set on the second floor.
Fully Insured
Cargo and liability coverage come with every job, and we walk through your valuation choices with you before you sign anything.
High-Rise Ready
Freight-elevator bookings, building certificates of insurance, cramped Heights stairwells, and tight townhome corners, we scout the carry and the loading zone so a tower or walk-up move never stalls at the door.
Padded & Wrapped
Each item is blanketed, shrink-wrapped, and strapped down firmly. Should a piece take a knock, we flag it right away and make it right.
Done Right
A straight price, a crew that genuinely cares about the work, and nobody leaves until every last piece sits exactly where you want it.
We Know River Oaks
We plan the crating, the gated-drive carry, and the white-glove handling before your date, so a River Oaks move protects every heirloom from door to door. A single lead stays on your job from the first knock through the last box, and the flat price is in your hands before anything is loaded.

Vickers was an excellent moving company! We saw their reviews on Yelp and they lived up to everything anyone had said about them. They were all very professional and so friendly. Sarah came over to assess exactly what we would need, and had a lot of great advice. The day of the move, we had 4 guys plus Sarah all moving stuff and they got us out of our house in record time, and while it was pouring down rain outside. We had some challenges being that we lived in a townhouse trying to get large furniture down, as well as a narrow street, and everyone exceeded our expectations. We relocated to a different city, and everything was done in a day and very efficient. We have since unpacked everything and have zero complaints, no damage, and nothing broken! And you can't beat their pricing. I would highly recommend this company if you are looking for friendly, efficient, and reliable people!
By far the most professional and organized movers I have ever dealt with. I have moved dozens and dozens of times in my life on a variety of budgets and they were by far the best! Seamless, punctual, efficient, well organized, friendly great guys. Wow! Save yourself the frustration and go with Vickers!
We will never use anyone but Vickers Moving after this move. Alan set my expectations, gave me moving pointers, and there were no surprises in the costs. The crew was on time, courteous, and very respectful of our belongings. They spent 2 solid days packing and boxing, then filling 2 truckloads for the move in the blinding Texas heat. Never once did they complain. They never stopped. We are so appreciative of the service and professional way they packed and moved us. Thank you all so much!

Questions We Hear a Lot
Do you handle high-value River Oaks moves?
Yes, that is a good bit of what we do. We crate the art and the pianos, pad the estate top to bottom, and run the whole job on our flat hourly with a written estimate. When the move leaves Texas, we price it on weight and mileage instead.
Are you licensed and insured?
We are. Vickers Moving Service carries Texas household-goods authority and full insurance, and your job stays with our own crew start to finish, with no broker slipping in to grab a cut. We are glad to walk you through the authority numbers and coverage details, and we will review your valuation options before anything is locked in.
Can you do high-rise moves that need a certificate of insurance?
Yes, constantly. High-rises near the Galleria, Midtown, the Museum District, and the Medical Center expect a certificate of insurance on file and a freight elevator reserved for a set window. We submit the COI to building management, hold the elevator, pad the cab and hallways, and finish inside the booked slot so you are off the dock on time.
My Heights bungalow has a tight 1920s staircase. Is that a problem?
This is exactly what we do best. Those vintage bungalows in the Heights, Woodland Heights, and Norhill are raised on piers, with steep front steps, narrow doorways, and cramped boxed-in stairwells. We size up every turn, pad the jambs and railings, and lift or hand-carry whatever refuses to make the corner, just as we have done since 1993.
Will you handle the packing?
As much or as little as you want. Want the whole house boxed? Done. Just the kitchen and the artwork? That is fine too. We arrive with heavy-duty cartons and paper, mark every box by room, and once the truck is empty we will unpack you at the new place.
Can you move pianos, gun safes, and pool tables?
Yes, and our crew handles them week after week. Upright or grand, a loaded gun safe, a slate pool table, a family heirloom, or a framed canvas, every one rides the right board or dolly under proper straps and pads, and we build a custom crate any time a piece needs one.
Can I move or cancel my date?
Of course. Reschedule or cancel with at least two days’ notice and your full deposit comes back to you. Every condition is written into your booking in plain words, so nothing is left to guesswork.
